These photos were taken one day after a Delta Mist® application on pavement that was approximately 18 months old in the City of Menifee.
The results speak for themselves.
The treated pavement has a rich, uniform appearance that looks remarkably close to new construction. Rather than creating a surface coating, Delta Mist penetrates into the asphalt, restoring binder performance while helping protect against future oxidative damage.
Despite pavement temperatures reaching approximately 156°F, the surface exhibited zero tackiness just one day after application—an impressive demonstration of Delta Mist’s curing characteristics under demanding summer conditions.
What makes this project especially exciting is that the City of Menifee is working toward using Delta Mist in place of a traditional fog seal as part of its pavement preservation program. It’s a forward-thinking approach that focuses on preserving the asphalt binder instead of simply coating the surface.
For us, the first photo may be one of our favorites. It captures exactly what agencies are looking for: a pavement that’s a year and a half old, yet still presents the clean, dark appearance of a much newer roadway after treatment.
As more agencies shift their focus from reactive maintenance to Oxidation Management for Asphalt (OMA), projects like Menifee demonstrate how preserving binder health can help extend pavement life while maintaining an outstanding appearance.
